  • Imran Awan, a former IT aide for Democratic Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, was indicted Thursday on four counts including bank fraud and making false statements.

The indictment also includes his wife Hina Alvi.

The grand jury decision in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia comes roughly a month after Awan was arrested at Dulles airport in Virginia trying to board a plane to Pakistan, where his family is from.

Awan and other IT aides for House Democrats have been on investigators’ radar for months over concerns of possible double-billing, alleged equipment theft, and access to sensitive computer systems. Most lawmakers fired Awan in February, but Schultz had kept him on until his arrest in July.

The indictment itself, which merely represents formal charges and is not a finding of guilt, addresses separate allegations that Awan and his wife engaged in a conspiracy to obtain home equity lines of credit from the Congressional Federal Credit Union by giving false information about two properties – and then sending the proceeds to individuals in Pakistan.

IT staffers may have compromised sensitive data to foreign intelligence
    By Paul Sperry

Federal authorities are investigating whether sensitive data was stolen from congressional offices by several Pakistani-American tech staffers and sold to Pakistani or Russian intelligence, knowledgeable sources say.
What started out 16 months ago as a scandal involving the alleged theft of computer equipment from Congress has turned into a national-security investigation involving FBI surveillance of the suspects.
Investigators now suspect that sensitive US government data — possibly including classified information — could have been compromised and may have been sold to hostile foreign governments that could use it to blackmail members of Congress or even put their lives at risk.
“This is a massive, massive scandal,” a senior US official familiar with the widening probe told The Post.

  • A laptop that Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz has frantically fought to keep prosecutors from examining may have been planted for police to find by her since-indicted staffer, Imran Awan, along with a letter to the U.S. Attorney.

U.S. Capitol Police found the laptop after midnight April 6, 2017, in a tiny room that formerly served as a phone booth in the Rayburn House Office Building, according to a Capitol Police report reviewed by The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group. Alongside the laptop was a Pakistani ID card, copies of Awan’s drivers license and congressional ID badge, and letters to the U.S. attorney. Police also found notes in a composition notebook marked “attorney-client privilege.”

The laptop had the username “RepDWS,” even though the Florida Democrat and former Democratic National Committee chairman previously said it was Awan’s computer and that she had never even seen it.

  • In the interview she specifically says she tried to give the evidence to the police, but they refused to investigate.

She also says that after she spoke to the police, and to a reporter who said he was interested, but never reported on the information, she got hacked and lost a large amount of her computer files.

They do ramble on in that interview, but a lot of good information. Unfortunately, they don't get to the good stuff until about 26:00 minutes into the interview

  • Top Democrat Becerra Is Caught Giving Cops a Fake Server on Imran Awan Scandal

  • It now appears that a “secret server” and a massive cyber security breach that resulted in the arrest of Imran Awan —aide to former Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz (D-FL) — and his wife, Hina Alvi, on bank fraud and conspiracy charges. In spite of the existence of what is now a growing scandal, Shultz tried to shield the now-indicted former Congressional aide, refusing to fire him even after it became clear that he allegedly routed data from a number of House Democrats to a secret server.

An investigative reporter at the Daily Caller, Luke Rosiak, revealed that a source only identified as a “senior official” gave details about how the existence of a additional “secret server” was discovered when then Rep. Becerra, who had just been appointed California’s Attorney General, asked to have his server “wiped clean:”
